By invitation of the Groninger Museum for the Children’s Biennale 2024 (Kinderbiennale), the ‘Badkat’ or the one and only Bath Cat and Guppy get a new summer design for the second time after we designed and built them 3 years ago for the first Children’s Biennale in 2021. and put them back in the water.
This time the Badkat will be floating, designed and painted in a new area; the Oosterparkwijk in Groningen city.
After hosting a number of designing afternoons in the Oosterparkwijk, we selected 6 fantastic designs and used them as inspiration for the new outfit of Badkat. Together with the winners (between 7-12 years old) and local children of the neighbourhood, we painted the new summer design on the artwork.
In between windy summer rainy days, we managed to finish painting the whole Badkat and Guppy in 2 weeks, while exploring a bit of Groningen. On July the 19th, the official unveiling of the Badkat and Guppy in the Pioenvijver took place. The Badkat and Guppy will float there until the whole winter long in 2025 :)!
