For the Chinese New Year of 2012 (year of the dragon) we made a 13-meter long wishing dragon for the entrance of the Museum Rotterdam. The wishing dragon or ‘Wensdraak’ in Dutch, contains thousands of wishes from visitors who visited the exposition ‘Rituals’. Visitors could also write their wishes on a ribbon and tie it to the dragon. For two weeks, the dragon enjoyed a growing colourful fur, full of wishes ready to be fulfilled in the coming year.
Nowadays, the completed wishing dragon hangs in the children’s book department of the Central Library in Rotterdam.
