Cross Comix is a visual storytelling platform and asked us to think about a promotional installation at Rotterdam Central Station, which would fit and be recognizable for their festival. We came up with the Cross Comix Living Room, a black & white 2D living room, where visual artists and public would meet in a cartoon setting.
The Cross Comix Living Room is a mobile public installation that makes you feel at home anywhere. As a temporary studio, as a signing table, as an interview stage, or simply as a place for the public to rest for a while. In the 2D living room everyone imagines themselves in their own cartoon world.
During the 7 days that the living room was located at the main hall of Rotterdam Central Station, various artists came by every day to do a live painting. Also signing sessions, book promo of ‘Rotterdam Stripstad’ and live drawings were organised.
The Cross Comix Living Room promotional tour started at the ALL CAPS Street art Festival, then at Rotterdam Central Station and went finally to theater Walhalla for the Cross Comix festival.
During the Children’s Book Week 2022 the 2D Living Room can be visited at The Hague Central Station until the 16th of October.
