According to the Chinese Lunar calendar February 12, 2021, is the start of the year of the Ox.

Unfortunately it was not allowed to organize a big Chinese New Year Festival on the West-Kruiskade this year, but only a couple of small events through the city were organized. To let the celebrations not pass unnoticed, a number of oxen have been decorated by Rotterdam artists and exposed throughout the city.

We were asked to paint 2 oxen. The design of the ox with the bones and drips is made by our intern Emma Gallacher. The oxen are shown in the Markethall until March 1. After this date all the 12 oxen are exhibit in the Timmerhuis till half of March.
