For the official opening of the Dutch Children Book Week, ‘Kinderboekenweek 2013’, we made an air installation in the music hall of ‘Muziekgebouw aan het IJ’ in Amsterdam. The installation of five ‘Slingerapen’, Dutch for swinging monkeys, were welcoming hundreds of kids, parents and celebrity writers during the children book prom ‘Kinderboekenbal’.

Theme of the Kinderboekenbal 2013 was ‘Sport & Games’. The five swinging monkeys were 6 to 8 meters in length and were swinging happily through colourful hoops. Each of the monkeys represents a sport or game inspired by the Dutch PE game ‘apenkooi’ (‘monkey cage’).
