‘Letter Light’ or ‘LeesLamp’ in Dutch is specially made for the Central Library of Rotterdam during the National Book Festival (Boekenweek 2015).

We were asked by the library to design an object to make reading fun and interactive with the visitors. Our idea behind ‘Letter Light’ is to create a small and bizar ‘big’ fantasy world where visitors literally can take place and read under the giant lamp shade. The light installation is also a bookcase where visitors can grab a book and enjoy the reading.

‘Letter Light’ has a height of 3,20 meter and is made of wood. The giant lamp shade is multifunctional as bookcase, reading lamp and as relaxing seat area.
